Youth Cooking Classes

This class will cover basic cooking and nutrition skills for Kids and Youth. Classes will be reoccurring and held at the Moon Rabbit Cafe Community Kitchen. Participants are welcomed to attend one, or many of the classes.

Class age limits are as follows:

  • Youth Classes (ages 13-18):July 19, August 16, September 20

  • Kids Classes (ages 8-14): August 2, September 6

** There will be a Spanish Interpreter on site

Class topics (for YOUTH class only):

1: Cooking Matters “Super Snacks” – Teaching participants about healthy snack alternatives then preparing some easy snacks like baked tortilla chips with mango salsa, hummus or mozzarella sticks.

2-  Cooking Matters “Name that fruit” activity – Teaching participants about healthy breakfasts, making the pancake recipe and maybe a smoothie or the yogurt parfait.

3- Cooking Matters  “your veggies your way” activity – Teaching participants about herbs and spices. Activity lets them taste a veggie with different herbs, and then make a recipe that uses herbs and spices, like the lentil and mango salad.

This class is part of the Heart of the Community: Instructional program — a segment of health education classes facilitated by non-profit, On Common Ground, in cooperation with SNAP Education. This series will continue until Mid-September.
